We went into Pukekohe yesterday to get a couple of things done and after walking hither and yon to get bills paid I tottered off back to the ute. I had to pass the public toilets on the way and thought I could probably pay a visit before doing the grocery shopping.

There are two of them with automatic locking things and when you go in and shut the door a voice tells you to push the button to lock the door. It then tells you, you have ten minutes to get on with it before the door unlocks itself then switches from the voice to rather loud muzac..... the sort you hear in lifts. I was entertained by a small portion of a rather loud swing version of 'what the world needs now is love sweet love'.
Thankfully I wasn't in there long enough for it to play all the way through.

Maybe this muzac is an attempt to drive the taggers away.... some little git obviously put up with it long enough to write something Greek X Russian looking high up on the wall.

How bizzarre! Muzac to pee to?

near where I used to live in aussie they used to play music going down the open air mall as a calming influence to stop the problems that had started when they closed off the original road.

However in the end they re-opened that part of the road to bring consumers back in.

After waiting for what seemed like an enormous amount of time to get into our loo the other morning, perhaps the music in those toilets is designed to hurry things along for those comfortable in their position?:rolleyes::rolleyes:

In some Japanese public toilets you choose which sound you would like played to cover your personal tinkle noise. Tweeting birds and muzak are options.

I wonder if Burt Baccarach ever considered his music would be played in a public toilet to disguise other possible noises?

I found the choice of song in this instance, quite amusing.

Ha ha, think of the songs they could play, what was the name of that rain song that Manhatten Transfer sung? "Trickle trickle, splash, splash, tell me how long this rain will last?" or words to that effect.

Or!!!! "It's raining men". Ooh the possibilities are endless

I quite fancy:

"....and I ran, I ran so far away... and I ran, I couldn't get away".

from whatever one hit wonder of the 80's this group were.

E bailed SOH up in the toilet this week for the first time in nearly 12 years holding her nose (yeah I know you don't want the details) but she was on the phone arranging important events for 11 yo's on holidays and knowing I was in the shower decided to pick Dad for the answer...

Stand by Me might have been an appropriate theme at that moment.

Ha ha, yeah, well the so called 'Lou Rolls' were not that forthcoming. Something to do with a rectangle rod in a round tube? Bloody thing wouldn't 'unroll'.

Actually, I've always wondered about that song by Mr Cash... Burning ring of fire?

Brave Words. I've heard them before from thousands of species across thousands of worlds, since long before you were created, but now, they are all Borg.

In Osaka in Japan, there's a public toilet that plays "Raindrops keep falling on my head" as you tinkle. I kid thee not.
