I have it and have had plenty of problems so personally, I would not recommend it. I found a fix for screen freezing etc this evening, researching, which has suggested that disabling all add-ons is the trick. Not sure how that will effect AVG8 as I noticed it in the list - anyone have any idea? I should add I have disabled all but also know how to get back and re enable them if needs be.

I fired it up briefly and disabled all the crap Microsoft have introduced with this new version such as suggestions, related sites and other such garbage. Then de-selected the Bing Search Engine and changed it to Google. Having done all that, it seemed to work OK, but it is still bloatware, compared to Firefox which runs like greased lightning on my new Core2 Duo laptop.
As others have said, get up with the play, switch to Firefox. Having tried it, you won't want to use IE again.

Following on from that, it's not like you'll be throwing away IE7, Firefox looks, acts and feels like a normal browser. It will work faster, is less susceptible to security attacks (IE is full of security holes), and in no time you'll be glad of it. It is only 6~7Mb download, whereas IE is many times larger and bloated.
