Your Christmas Tree that is [;)]

Fake christmas trees verses real christmas trees.
We have always had a fake tree but just for once I would like to get a real tree. We have sensitive noses here so probably not good for us! Are they worth the mess?

We have neither - just too busy...

But we have had the real deal and loved it - but not the mess.
Bought a fake one a few years ago and much prefer it - less mess but it doesn't seem like the real thing. That's the compromise I guess.

The smell of pine can be quite strong, so if you are sensitive to it, go for the fake one.

Have to have a real one :p :) but i tend to not leave it up as long as i used to so not really any mess now and the goats prefer to clean it up before it gets to old and then once they've stripped it i cut it up for firewood :D
Just can't beat the smell of a real xmas tree

We usually have a fake tree that I really like, it looks like a real tree not those horrible pink/white/shiny ones [xx(]

But the last couple of years we've succumb to a real tree .... doesn't help having a Christmas tree place just down the road :D Have to say you can't beat the real ones although it can be messy it's been really enjoyable. The kids love it as well :D

Real, always. I don't mind the mess afterwards and I love the smell. Besides, they're not exactly an endangered species down here and we're doing everyone a favour cutting down a wilding pine each year.

Goats: 4 boers + 4 kids (all does[:D]), 1 saanen + 2 kids, 1 toggenburg.
Chickens: Barred Rock, Light Sussex, Araucana, pekins
Pigs now in the freezer

Real - from the Christmas Tree co that FF mentioned. Can't beat the smell. I have allergies also and find that as long as they are well watered it is fine.

Real for us too but SIL usually sells them so we get it free. But for years we had a potted one, I think it was some kind of Juniper, and that was great though not as big. Then I let it get pot bound so it died but it could have been planted out before then.

Absolutely real for me. If you don't get it too early and FEED it with 8 soluable Asprins when you first put it in water and top up water as required, it will last rright through to 6 days after Christmas.

I have a metal container thingie that I purchased years ago that is like a wide dish which has four spread feet and four scew in attachments. You hold the tree upright and another person screws the attachments into the tree trunk. Steady as a rock and just water into the bowl with Asprin and that is it. Brilliant and love the pine smell.

This is a bit of a blow for my lsb dreams to find this thread... Thought it would be a given for real trees, straight from the garden so to speak. :D

My parents always had a fake one. I always wanted a real one and was quite jealous of my friends who did have one. When I went flatting we never really bothered with a trees, though i think we might have had a fake one on the odd occassions..

Well when i got married and had kids i decided the time was right for a real tree. I had high expectations as i had been waiting for a very long time!

I love the smell, i love the way its not symetrical and decorations look great, kids enjoyed choosing which tree..but..I hate the pine needles on the floor!

Now my urge is over...we went back to a fake one hahaa

Since moving to NZ, a real one every, ermm christmas for us. Last year from our own forest, same again this year.

Placed in a large bucket, filled with stones to keep it weighted and topped up with water every day too. I don't get needle droppings that way and any stray bits are quickly swiffed up now we've got wood floors and no carpet.

Can't wait for my parents to get here in December. Mum's first job is to decorate the tree :p

My mum always used to think that i loved decorating the tree...but to be honest i absolutely hate it! I love the end result but hate decorating it.

Fortunately the kids are at an age where they want to do it...so after hubby puts the lights on ... I let them go for it ...whilst i have a cuppa and watch lol [}:)]

Anyone else hate decorating trees or is it just me??
