One of our Burmese is as the vet put it "vertically challenged for her weight". She is obese to put it bluntly. She has had multiple tests for thyroid and other stuff and there doesn't seem to be a significant reason for this as we don't feed that much.
The vet wants her on a slimming special recipe dry cat food and - this is the problem - no access to other food. We have another 3 cats and there is no way unless we lock her in a cage permanantly to prevent her getting at their food.
Is there anyone Waikato/BOP/Auckland who is catless and would like to cat sit a very affectionate seal burmese (wombat sized). We have all her food and litter box requirement etc and are happy to pay a cat sitting fee.
I really don't want to lock her in a cage for the next few weeks as the vet felt that having outside to walk around in would be better, but it is coming to the point this could have serious implications on her health

Wish I could help, but 2 cats here already... good luck with your quest. Could you not just feed her in a separate room while the other 3 eat, and then pick up any leftovers when they're done?
Wish i could help too, but i have 2 cats, the girl has a similar issue as yours! I can completely understand the problems of trying to limit one cats food when you have another, we even tried taking the food bowls out of the way but the boy doesn't eat very early and likes to graze!
We've even tried getting her to move more by getting her to chase after things, calling her to and fro, etc! I'm hoping that her weight has levelled now and *fingers crossed* it's just because she was settling in!

I can't help either but have the oposite problem, skinny cat who's food gets pinched by the others. I shut him in laundry with his dinner then put it up till he wants a bit more, labour intensive but what can you do?

I have the two alternatives as well. Hugo the tub and Mouse the rat, both burmese and both from the same family, Mouse being Hugo's blood niece (his sister from the same litter is Mouse's mum).
Anyhow we also had warnings from our aussie vet that Hugo could do with going on a diet, yet he is active, isn't fed anything else except biscuits and not much at that.
What do you do when both eat exactly the same, the skinner perhaps eating more than the tubbier?
Sorry ravenseyes - I am in the same boat with one cat that HATES other cats. I discovered the other day that the tufts on her ears means she is part Maine Coon and believe me - she loves her Mum and her dog sister but anything else is attacked.
I dont get my new kitten for 6wks [5days old] so as long as the other food, which is wild rabbit available and has to be caught is OK I could probably help for the next month.. Mollie the other border cat eats at 1.5m high... can your fatty get that high..??? and a few healthy run arounds with the dog might help.. and there is no human food only the pigs porridge being made.. any cuddles wanted will have to be done out on the farm while I wait for the cows to walk by..

She can't even jump from the floor to the bar stool now - getting to the bed is about her limit. As for catching something unless she lay on it and flattened it she hasn't got a hope of chasing something down.
