Miniature chooks??

I was reading a Lifestyle Block type magazine at the Takeaway shop last night. It was dated 2003 and had a lot of articles about miniature animals ie horses, donkeys, herefords, goats. One article mentioned a mini breeder down in Canterbury and their was a brief sentence about miniature chooks, no pictures or breed mentioned. Are these the real deal or are they just bantamised versions of a particular breed?

There are a number of breeds that have a bantam version, and some that only come in 'miniature' size, like Pekins and Sebrights-but these are all known as bantams not miniature chooks
