Car maintenance question
Can anyone tell me whether the performance would be affected in any way if the oil dip stick shows the oil level considerably higher than the H mark on the Dipstick? Thanks.

I over-filled the oil (why not just use up the whole lot?!?!?) and the car was fine until I put my foot down to accelerate up a hill. There was a huge puff of smoke, the engine started spluttering, smoke filled the car and several hundred square metres all around me.
Dad (of course) came to rescue me and was torn between outright laughter and snickering behind my back. We had to drain out about 2 litres before the car stopped smoking (as in, smoke so thick I couldn't see where I was going).

The car has been sluggish (since last service a few weeks ago). Definitely not getting the Km per litres I am used too and just wondering why this may have changed. Owned the car for 7 years, run it on 96 and most people who have driven it say it is like a pocket rocket (but 2L mid range car) so why the change. It was a 125,000km service.
Just to add, the service was done by my usual Mechanic and I don't want to point fingers - just wondering what has happened possibly. The Air Conditioning unit (which I rarely use) had a fluid pumped through it and in some ways, it feels as though the air con is on (the power change is hugely noticable if I turn it on) but it has not been activated by me - as in all turned off.
Only today found the over filling of the oil so just wondering.

PG 2litres over full is just so unbelievable I did not even think of that sort of over fill as that is crazy. just small over fill.

Also had a $20,000 maybe vague quote for something else someone stuffed up last year but life goes on and all I seem to do is get poorer and poorer by the day! The latter problem is in negotiation and it better swing my way BIG TIME or they will wish they had never met me. Not a happy camper obviously. I was so damn happy a few months ago - what happened? I promise I have been good....

I don't think I over-filled by 2 litres.. but that's how much we had to drain out for the car to act "normally" again.
My cousin did it in much more spectacular fashion (she was 17 and thought "fill with oil" meant "fill it with oil until it almost over-flowed"). Needless to say, that did kill her car, and her dad is a mechanic. He threw his hands up and bought her a new car.

Just thought if he did filter too that could explain small overfill.
