Is this a hoax or ?

Received this email today, it just doesn't seem right, have others received it?:confused:

account has been compromised by spammers by gaining access to your webmail
account and have been using it for illegal internet activities. You are
requested to provide your current login credentials to enable us reset
your webmail account password immediately to avoId abuse of your account.

advised to provide the above information or your account will be

Not received it, but they will never ask you for this stuff via email. Don't reply []

The only reason anyone would want your password is so that they can log on as you without you knowing....

For example, I don't know what password any of you use on lsb. The passwords are encrypted for safety. I can however, reset your password to something else or you can ask for a new password. I don't need to know your current password to change it and nor would any other software application written in the last ten years.

Thanks, I thought so, had another one yesterday supposing to be from xtra as well, but a different tack.

I thought it didn't look official enough but these things are getting smarter and smarter that someone is bound to be taken in! The writing of the word of avoId looked sus. as well.

I've lost count of the millions of pounds I have won in the British Lotteries this week -I wish!

My son just got one supposedly from the IRS (note not our IRD - this is the American one) telling him to log on and sort out some undeclared income issue. He says he wishes he HAD earned some American income!

I particularly like the ones from banks that I don't even bank with - not! [!]
