Help please!
Has anyone else had Telecom ring up & offer you a free wireless router to stick with them for 2 years?
Big fine if you leave early by the way.
My husband got a bit confused & agreed to do this. He is 80 & I think he was conned.
We already have a Netgear wireless router that lets us use the laptop anywhere in the house.
Can someone please tell me if there is any advantage in using the Telecom gadget?
I will invoke the 30 day clause of the law if there is not.

I can't see an advantage if you are up and running.. Surely under the Consumer Act you have so many days to send it back and revoke the contract??

Ring them to advise you are not interested. Explain the age thing too.
We have wireless here, free modem for tying ourselves to Telecom. Can't believe they rang us again to make the same offer. Seems to point it is not Telecom doing the calling.

All the Telecom marketing calls I am getting at the mo are from Aussie for some strange reason! and no, I don't want to replace my very old and battered mobile phone (they'll prise it from my cold, dead etc...technophobe!)
Yes, revoke it. And tell them off.

And Telcon are stating the Router is compliant to certain standards that they a going to start in TWO YEARS time, and all they are doing is trying to sign you up now. I think you should be OK under the consumer act to pull out as they phoned you you did not phone them correct?
They are doing a lot of this at the moment.

Without looking it up, I thought you only had 10 days to change your mind about a purchase so regardless, I would be hitting the phone today and cancelling their "contract". Have you hubby handy as you may get the run around if the account is in his name. Pathetic eh! One other thing is to make sure you ask the persons name you are speaking to, note the time too as all calls are recorded to the best of my knowledge. Any run around, ask for the Manager. Have fun. In my opinion, it doesn't make sense to sign to two years with any IP provider when they are constantly changing their "special offers" etc.
