kittens and benchtops...
The kittens, when they have been in the kitchen head straight for the benchtops. Neither Max nor Mickey have ever done that and I want to stop it now before they get used to it. So what do I do? Any hints or tips?
Cheers

I don't mind fishing in the rain, fish are already wet...

Next question, at what age do they stop squeaking like mice and start to sound like cats? They have lovely, deep purrs but every other vocalisation is pathetic!

Anyhow, with all of my cats (3) I have simply picked them up and said a firm NO, GET OFF and put them straight back on the floor, and they have always learnt by that...
However we don't employ double standards either as I have seen at some other cat homes, in that they are not allowed to jump on any higher surface unless its their multi storey scratching post...

Some never do stop squeaking. I was told it was that they learned to miaow from their mums, if their mother wasn't a miaowing cat, they they had no one to copy from. If they are taken from their mothers when very young, then again they are unlikely to miaow. I had one cat that looked like she was about to give a huge miaow, then all that came out was an "eek" like a mouse. Our current two cats, one of them doesn't miaow properly at all and she is an adult, the other although just a kitten can already make his voice heard.quote:Originally posted by Kate

In the UK our cats weren't done until the were 15 weeks old.
Same as for dogs, they seem to be done here quite early too, Bonnie was done before she ever went into season and yet I know my dad's vet (UK) recommended that they wait for their dog to have her first season before they would spay her!
Have no idea behind the reasoning for it though
