Well I suppose why not?
His voice is good, though his diction is not brilliant, though I guess he must be self taught as I haven't heard of anyone teaching male sopranos in recent years. He is right though, back in baroque days there were plenty of male sopranos and other voice types not heard these days.
Anyone remember Black Adder?
I would sure like to see him get a record deal and challenge the conservative opera followers.

I think he is amazing, saw this months ago, just before Susan Boyle, don't understand why HE didn't get more press. Got much more going for him. In MY opinion.

In the bad days way back when, parents would actually have a young son castrated so he would become, if he was good enough, a Castrato? I think that's the term. It was a pretty major one way trip for the wee lad. If he didn't sing well enough... well what a sacrifice.....

I love it when someone gets up in front of those judges. They have a certain 'image' like Susan Boyle wasn't any oil painting and her hair wasn't primped and pampered etc but she opened her mouth and they fell off their seats!

Same with this guy, he comes across as someone who might sing rock or something and then he opens his mouth and floors everyone with that amazing voice! Another guy is a teacher called Danyl...... He's supposed to be the best ever in an audition and after watching his performance, I can see why. Bloody hell, anyone would think he was born performing! Joe Cocker may have to stand aside!

That confidence in voice, joyful singing, and the ability to sway a crowd - I can't help feeling he's been performing in an evangelical choir for some years...

He's a teacher, apparently.... my guess is he has a trail of young girls experiencing 'true love' school girl crushes, following him all over the school grounds and bitching amongst themselves over who is in love with him the most ha ha ha. Oooh the pain of youth.

He certainly didn't look like he was a first time performer, he had all the moves of someone really famous with no effort at all.

Ha as for that poor deluded girl Emma...... Some fool told her she could sing and no one is going to alter that wee dream no matter what they say.
Cripes, she was practising her singing outside their house and the neighbours called noise control or the police or someone and she STILL thinks she can sing. Sad sad sad.

We saw someone who called themselves an holistic voice coach..... could have been on that Aussie programme.... well hells bells, she thought the cat had died and left her it's pyjamas. MAN what an attitude!!! The word 'Nutter' sprung to mind. I can't say loose unit.. more like the nuts, bolts and screws had been tightened way too tight.

She stormed off saying she had a degree...... Stephen Hawking probably has enough degrees to paper his house several times over, it doesn't mean he can sing though.

Why is it, some people can be told they have a talent for something and never do much about it when others, are told fibs and they believe everyword, take it and run with it no matter how bad they actually are and refuse to believe the truth.

First thing that crossed my mind was the castrati from Rennaisance Italy...second thought was 'transgender?", but then I remembered the Bee Gees...in pop/rock music, they call that 'falsetto'. Didn't quite catch the operatic term he used. I think part of the amazement is that this guy is singing opera at all, let alone in the soprano ranges. I was expecting something 'weird' with his voice, based on the posts here, but I was not prepared for opera! (He could get me into listening opera, tho' )
