Hi, I am looking at buying some kitchen appliances at the moment. I wonder if someone here can tell me whether Parmco is a good quality company (they have a 5 year guarantee on things which is pretty impressive!)
I am looking for a rangehood as well and saw one I liked from Mogano - but never heard of that company before??!! Are they any good?
Thanks for helping!

If you don't know the brand it probably has been recently created to sell Chinese made goods cheaply. They think up new brand names all the time so people can't just check what 'Consumer Magazine' and the likes write about the brand.

You might strike it lucky and get an end-of-run good quality appliance, or you get a cheaply made appliance that is sold for much more than it is worth.

Regarding the 5 year guarantee: who guarantees it? The manufacturer of the appliance? Many big chain stores now ask the consumer to go directly to the company that made the goods which is no good when the company went out of business. And this is VERY likely if there are problems with the goods they made. This has happened to us twice in the past with bargains (small appliances fortunately) that didn't last a year.

If you buy a well known long established brand then you have the support of the chain store AND the manufacturer.

It is also sold by Plumbing World, Mico Wakefiled, Master Trade etc etc etc. For folk wanting an alternative to F & P, it seems to be a good option. Sold a few of them whilst working for one of the above, and had no dramas with any of the appliances. They do a good range of gas cookers, which were very poplular.

I used to work for Parmco and have all Parmco appliances in my kitchen. They have several levels of stuff ranging from the basic models that you will find in mitre 10 etc up to more expensive Italian stuff. The cheaper range is chinese and initially they had some problems with it but since changing suppliers there haven't been any issues. They have a showroom in mount wellington that is worth having a look at. If you are keen on their range i can probably get some kind of deal for you and they often have ex homeshow stuff or ex display that you can get if you know the right people lol. I have the big 900 wide freestanding 2 oven/gas hob which is stunning :) I only brought that cos it looks so pretty but you can even cook in it too :D I'll try and post a pic if you like

So, that's your kitchen Devan? Wasn't it you who doesn't bake or cook? You should see my tiny wee ancient kitchen which gets used several times each day for baking, cooking, preserving, etc. Mine isn't tidy, either[B)]

Yours looks really nice - and I think you need a bit more encouragement to use it - not only when you need to bake a birthday present :) :D :D

Hi again,
Yes, of course I googled first before posting my question here - couldn't find anything, that is why I asked.
Thanks for all your constructive answers. I didn't know that Parmco was the M10 brand. I am looking for several kitchen appliance at the moment and probably will go for a combi steam oven (Bosch), a 60 cm baking oven with pyrolytic cleaning (Bosch) and an induction cooktop (probably Miele). That leaves the rangehood?!???
I was originally looking for a headfree one (because I just hate to bang my head on these things!) but it is hard to find in a size of 60 cm (usually they are all bigger). Mogano has got one, hence my question if somebody knows the company.
Bosch only has 90 cm rangehoods (at least on their webpage), that would need a lot of work to fit it in, so not sure about that.
It seems I still have a bit of thinking to do there.:(
@devan - your kitchen looks great!
Have a good day

Ha ha cheeky tart simkin...mine gets used heaps-to make coffee :D Like i said i got it cos it was pretty [;)] Just to rub it in thats only half the kitchen, its twice that size ha ha. Still need to finish the floor tho and rip up that poxy lino and polish the floor boards.
and the reason its clean is cos no bugger uses it!

hksts parmco have a website and they have a extractor fan that can be built into an overhead cupboard or a thing called a downdraft that is built into the bench top either next to or behind the hob, but it cant be used with gas. In my opinion a 600w rangehood looks kinda pathetic and the 900 ones look way better, even over a 600w hob

We had a Parmco Rangehood installed early last year. Its brilliant and have had no trouble with it. Ours is plumbed so the vent is outside.

Hi,
@xartep - I totally agree with you - my kitchen is pretty messy too!
@devan - You are so right, I know a 90 cm rangehood would look heaps better but as I already have an oven and cooktop - there is not much freedom to move things around. Can't have the oven and cooktop more to the left and the rangehood more to the right but not centered - probably would look horrible. I hope you can understand what I am trying to say here. I should make a picture really, maybe tomorrow?
