But I guess that will teach me to work at a racecourse[:0]. And good on the cops - I wish they would do it more often. Had they been there Easter Saturday, I'm sure they would have picked up heaps who were over the limit.
They also did a quick check of warrant and registration.
And they were on both sides of the racecourse exit, so which ever way you left the premises, you had to go thru the checkpoint.
Needless to say, I passed with flying colours on all aspects

The police had a local major backroad shut off a couple of weeks ago for motor licence checks.
Good on them I thought, they stopped every car going through.... had 1 aside by the time I went through.

Great to hear them doing it at places like that before people get on the roads

A couple of years ago I got pulled over in a police breath testing sting, hidden around a corner from a local (and very notorious) pub.
I was driving my Dad (as he'd had one beer). Anyway, I spoke into the little machine... and failed!! The policeman asked me when I'd had my last drink.
Well, the honest answer was about 3 years before, so you can imagine how perplexed I was. I then had to blown into a mouthpiece to prove it! Sure enough, it came back at zero
The policeman looked at his unit, sort of shook it, then waved us on, shaking his head.
It wasn't until we got to my Aunt's house that we remembered the 20 used wine bottles in the bag behind my seat, that we were taking to her for her home wine-making efforts.
Sensitive little machines those things!

Yesterday morning after dropping the kids at school I took the dog to the vet in Helensville (8.45am) and they had a checkpoint on the main (only) road. They breathalized me and checked for licence, road user etc.
Last week hubby was out for dinner with a client an d got a dial-a-driver home about 10pm and they were stopped in Kumeu at a check point so just as well he did (he nearly didn't), it must be our turn out this way.
