By chance does anyone know a specialist in this field? preferably Franklin area of NI. I am a bit over Solicitors advising they know, when they don't.

I'd ring the commerce commission and you might strike it lucky and put you through to someone who can give you good advice.

many thanks for the link Rod, it is actually what we based our original actions on, and have been found to be correct by more formal independant assessment.

The person we are dealing with is frankly, quite scary. Not in the physical sense, but mentally. His correspondence is not coherent, his writing and presentation of written form is child like, and he answers serious questions with bibical quotations and references to the bible.

We have asked him to seek professional assistance in the matter as we believe he doesn't understand the seriousness of the situation. However as he has broken into our home on the instruction of ""someone"" who he will not name, back in November last year, frankly I think he is a sandwich short of a picnic.......

Seems to me to be a fairly serious situation and I don't think it would do any harm to lodge a report with the Police, even if you don't want to pursue that line any further at the moment, should it suddenly escalate at least you will be in a better position! You can never be certain what nutters might do.

Swaggie, you may well need to get a harrassment order on this person. While that in and of itself won't keep him away if he decides it doesn't apply to him, it does provide you with avenues of recourse (including arresting said person) should he breach the order.

I filled in a trespass order on the net from the NZ police website, however SOH felt we were going too far.

We have written to him and advised that amongst other things if he believes he is owed money from us, then he should now see a professional to assist him with the matter.

We have also said in future we will not be responding to his correspondence and it will be returned unopened.

let's see what the next few days brings, but I said to SOH if I see him around the back of my work again (last Monday driving ''past'' having a good look) I will be going to the police as we have previously put in writing he is to stay away.

Uhm, wouldn't suggest returning his correspondence, but don't answer them. Keep anything he sends, just in case things need to go further, they will be evidence of your stance.

I'm pretty sure this can be used as a trespass order. You can trespass someone verbally so putting it in writing should be the same thing.
I would have a word with you local police just to put them in the picture and then it is also on record unofficially, till a (hopefully never occurring) time it may be required. But it allows them to react quicker if a situation does develop, which hopefully it wont.

Received another letter this week suggesting we should continue conversation. Still the same theme etc, and still so misguided... and along came another christian guide to living insert that he recommends we read and investigate, as it helped save him, so will help us pray for forgiveness for ourselves etc etc etc.

He needs professional help, which we recommended in our last letter. I will keep any future incoming correspondence, but not going to reply.

swaggie...I would be so annoyed if this were happening to me. This is nothing to do with building etc but a person needing help surely. Having worked in Pukekohe, I am well aware of a few people with issues  and on the whole people just ignore them.

However, what is happening to you is nothing to do with religion - it is abusive and I also would suggest you go to the Police with this. If necessary ask for a senior member if you are not being heard front line and spell it out. My suggestion would be to not mix it up with anything else that has happened with this person but simply deal with it as (a) abusive intrusion into your family life and (b) a suggestion that this person may not be taking their medication and (c) this needs dealing with promptly.

To be honest, if you have no immediate neighbours and a young daughter, I would be deeply concerned that this person may not stop at these crazy religious letters which are esculating by the week. You want to be assured of your families safety and security. That should make then stand up and take notice - even if just to ensure that the agencies available are made aware of your situation and taking the situation and the person's mental health seriously. Go hard!

Yes I thought about approaching the police as well. When he doesn't receive a reply this week he will surely know we are sticking to our word of no further communication with him, and I cannot estimate what his reaction will be.
Fortunately we are moving this coming weekend and the other place cannot be seen from any road unless he comes in over other neighbouring paddocks.

I was told by one of our suppliers who frequently sees the person concerned that they were aware he had a drug addiction some years ago, and its affected his thinking. I knew there was a problem with alcohol in the past too, however so do many others and they continue on.

I am stuck with knowing that even if we take out a tresspass order, to enforce it if he turns up will take a substantial period of time for the police to arrive.....

anyhow I will go and see them and see if there is any other history the police know about. We surely cannot be the first to experience this with him.
