A question for you all?

I have found that my full name has been used on a blog that is not very nice, and its really not necessary to have my name there at all, and feel that the blog owner should be able to edit her blog site and remove my name from the blog, she is saying the the person that entered the blog is the only one that can take the name off. I do not want my name badied around the world, and have asked her for the last 3 days to do something about it. so where do I go from here??

I'd be annoyed with that too, Rae...is the blog on that person's site or part of another site? If its part of another site, can you complain to the owners of that site?

??? I think I know what you're talking about, Rae, but couldn't find any reference there? Is there another blog other than the one from the other day?

No its the one from the other day under council stuff, and by paddys whatever, who is actually the past sec of one organisation we have had dealings with. had great fun actually finding out who it was and a relief to myself, as it was really worrying me.

the owner of the site recons that she cannot edit the posting, and I am telling her that she should be able to, or she should be able to make the person delete any reference to me, or she should not be running the blog at all.

i had the same problem - work related and dispite legal advise there was not a lot that can be done.
Apparently anyone can post what they like about whoever they like truth or lies
The website owner has little liability for what is ""posted" on his site and there are some that do not take moral responsibility either . The poster is also "hiding" behing a username and therefore is difficult to legally charge unless positively identified..... freedom of speech is a great thing unless abused.
Luckily for me, other posters took exception and threatened to expose her which resulted in it all being withdrawn and it was on obscure lefty website that no-one with any sense read anyway.

i have sent a mesage to the blog owner naming the blogger and asked that she remove my name, but that has not happened, but saying that the blog is probably a bit like your one Kidajojo, they also have read on our main web site that we could suspend any member running us down, we left it there for a few days, then compleatly revamped the web site and put some really interesting and bright stuff up on the front page, so I think its taken the sting out of the whole affair. Now we just keep smiling and hope that we all enjoy ourselves in the future.

RaeM, we are in the unfortunate position of having our names blackened by our former 'builder'' in the franklin region. fortunately the majority of suppliers have contacted me at work to let me know what was being said...

We let it slide for some time, until it became personal and we became aware we were being watched and monitored where we currently live.

Then the person made a telephone call to my Boss who fortunately I had kept up to date with outcomes and emails from our insurance company that cleared our name against the former idiots accusations and he telephoned me to let me know of the telephone call.

so this week i sent off an official letter advising if any of the past occured again, and from anyone associate with him or himself I will be going to the police and to my solicitor for charges for defamation, trespass and the like. so far no response, but having seen 1 of our suppliers tonight in a social capacity, she hasn't seen him back either....

Sometimes its ok to let things slide and let them go away, sometimes you just have to take a stand and involve those few who have been involved in the issues to clear the air, sometimes its worth taking it further but ensuring that the proceedings don't inform more than you originally intended to inform... a thin line I know but I feel its there and perhaps you should reply to the site officially.

I have been asked by our president not to go on as it will be like stirring up a hornets nest, as several of the others on the blog have got unnecessary gripes with the way we are sticking to the rules and not letting things slide like they have in the past, so for now I will sit back and I think the person will be at a social event on Sat night, so we will see what comes of that.

As a website owner I can edit or delete anything on this site and can't understand why the website owner concerned can't do the same. If someone blogged with pornography or something similar could they not remove it??? We have had occaisions on this site where members have posted remarks that could have been defamatory or even breached name suppression, if I couldn't remove such things the site could have been shut down!

I've recently become OWNER of a support group, and I made sure it had the delete and block ability as part of setting it up.. ours is closed so no public can enter and since its in its infancy, not being publicised of its availability..so small and cheap a bit like a baby, noisy but nonverbal.. until we grow our teeth.. so you are being fobbed off. AND we all know the mods and goddess can eliminate us, with one little mouse click

I did google a persons name to find her.
I did not know she was a dog breeder.
Found heaps of pages talking bad about her+ all by same person.
Dog breeder had a dog she kept the breeding and owner rights for but he was leased out for life to a new owner.
The dog was to be bred on and the new owner had him on life time except for the breeding rights and that she showed him at shows a couple of times per year.
Already first time when the breeder wanted the dog it went wrong.
The breeder wanted the dog on a get together for his first litter, big puppie reunion at a dog show.
The new owner said she could not attend, the breeder wanted to pick up the dog and just have him for a couple of hrs and the new owner did shift house without telling where to!
THis was a expensive purebred dog and they had 2 bitches to see him, they came from abroad and the new owner did disepaer again!
The new owner claimed that dog was of such low quality so he should not be bred.
She even did see a vet and produced a statement of that the dog had falling down disease. No one ever saw the dog having a seizure.

I do not know who is right and who is wrong.
But the new dog owner has homepages and blogs where she throws crap at the original dog owner,,the dog owner is today dead,,old age and heart gave up.
BUT the web page is still there!
So if you google this persons name you find so much nasty written about her from this dogs new owner.
Guess the original dog owners kids don't know about this web page.

Ofcourse you have to as a webpage owner be able to take away things or get ready for court.

I know who the person is that has put the entry onto the blog, and yes I will look on google it will be interesting to see what is said about the person. I probably will meet up with her next sat anyway at a social event, and we will see just what she has to say, normally she is quite nasty so I will be waiting for some type of reaction.

she might avoid you Rae, especially if you make noises in other circles prior to attending the event.

Recently I saw our former builder at the red shed, he certainly didn't stop to talk to me about his allegations, so I sent him a letter advising I knew and gave examples of what he has done that I know about which ended in saying I would involve the police for tresspass and the solicitors for defamation if he continued..

people can be very loud when they don't have to face someone, and i would normally avoid confrontation too, however I, as you are no doubt, am equally annoyed, frustrated, sad and at times really depressed over the whole affair so when i did my letter I ensured the suppliers that I knew had been targeted also received my formal warning to him which detailed the damage and theft that he has done to our property, as well as the findings undertaken by the appropriate building consultant engaged by the insurer, so those suppliers know the proper story to it all.
