e-cards.....spam????

i had an email yesterday from someone (that I dont know, or dont think i now) who had a email address as @ slingshot . co.nz. the email contained an e card that this person had sent me. the recipient had to click a link within the email, or if that didnt work, go to a website and type in a code number to retrieve it.

well i didnt do any of it and deleted the email, but i'm really really curious if it is real or not. might be someone from a by gone era haha. i was really tempted to retrieve it.

anyone had these sorts of emails with e cards. i have had one before but it was from someone i knew, so that was ok. this person i dont think i know.

I've had some viagra ads delivered by ecard. I opened them on the email server rather than downloading them in case they were viruses. They weren't dangerous just a new way of delivering spam.

Someone I know sends them periodically. I've told her my connection's too slow to retrieve them (which it is for those huge animated bits of smaltzch). I'm suspicious of them even when they do come from someone I know. Send me a message in an email, for goodness sake!

Hey, yeah I've had a few of the ecards. Usually over Christmas or birthday's from friends overseas. Sometimes they are quite cool/cute animated songs and animations. I think generally they are pretty harmless. As long as you don't download anything, I think your alright.

if i click on a link as asked, thats sus to me. it's like those bank spams where they ask you to click on a link.....and we dont do that.
