Hi there, I was just wondering if people in the rural areas are as bombarded by junk mail as we are in the city? I must get a good size stack every 2-3 days, plus local papers, and least 1 real estate agent flyer or letter asking me to sell or buy a property with them every day.

I don't mind it so much, i find it's kind of a good way to price comparison products and get gift ideas without leaving the house.

Or though there are some terrible ones (junk mail flyers) out there. I got one today for a glass shop (A4) and in big bold letters taking up the whole middle of the flyer it said 'Over 3000 windscreens in stock'. My first though, was 'so what, who cares'! I mean really how is that going to entice customers.

Anyway, yeah so how is it in the rural areas? Do you get enough junk mail to keep a fireplace going or are you pretty low key out there?

Cheers,
Mike

I generally just get bills and the free papers. We told the postie some years ago that we would not accept anything from the red place. We're out at the end of a long RD run, so maybe we don't get as much as we might closer to town. Thankfully.

I love junk mail and I use the shinier paper ones for my patchwork templates.

We get heaps, make ya laugh though doesn't it, NZ's clean green reputation slightly tarnished by all that waste paper being shoved in millions of mail boxes every day!

Ours all get recycled into paper bricks for the fire.

We get more here than we used to get in town! Before we moved out here, I thought that we'd get none, naively thinking we would be too far out in the wop wops for the people who go around delivering flyers on foot. But it gets delivered by the rural mail person instead.

we get loads of the darned stuff, about 4 pieces a day. I hate the waste of resources it takes to produce the stuff and the effort we have to go to to get rid of it all.

Our postie only delivers junk mail once a week and it's all rolled up in a rubber band so if you choose not to have it you can just chuck the whole lot in one go, all neat and tidy.

MM - there is no way our Postie will deliver just the local newspapers and mail. I have been on to the Local Council as they put all their notices in it and I have been on to the Local Newspaper about it and noone appears to be able to do anything! The Green sticker that the Council posted me is totally ignored by the postie as well - rural Delivery by the way.

The reason I wanted it stopped is because we not only received the junk mail, but a second dose of the same thing stuffed into the Local paper! Any ideas anyone? I just want my mail and the Local Papers.
