that could go on a walk for 2 hours in the middle of nowhere and come home with a very sick cat!!
This poor little cat was stuck in its own collar it was under its arm and wedged there for what the vet thinks 2 weeks...she was skinny as a rake and very weak :( It took a further 2 hours to come back to my place cut the collar off feed her some nice yummy food and a plate of milk....she scoffed it all down and i took her to the vet.
I am putting up flyers today to see if i can find her owners as she is such a lovely cat someone will be missing her for sure...
So is it just me or are there more sick wounded unwanted animal magnets out there :)
I am happy that i tramped that day and turned right and not left as she was only 5 steps to the right....if i had gone left she would have died a very horrible and painful death as no one really goes up on the logging tracks at the back of our place...that was my good deed for the day, mum was proud of me...she was gipping as the poor little thing stunk of rotting flesh...i didnt think i had become that hardened to odd smells but mum reminded me 5 years ago i would have benn gipping with her....lol..how things change eh!

Someone will likely be very grateful to you! What's the origin of "gipping"? I've not seen or heard it used before.

Good on you W! We try not to use the collars but when the young birds are out we have bell collars we put on the cats. These are fastened either with elastic or a stitch of light cotton, not the buckles, so if the cat gets caught on a branch or gets a leg through the collar will let go. Rather loose a collar than have a strangled or caught cat. Strangely enough, when one does come off we usually find them again within a few weeks.

Isla, gipping is a good old yorkshire term for gagging at horrid smells...retching or heaving before you throw up...lol... :) mum was looking as green as the gangrene :) :)
Powerguy, the collar was a safety collar, the cat had managed to get it under her arm and got it stuck..i will never ever use another collar as long as i have cats after seeing that..it was pretty horrific! I have a killer cat and i have a collar for him with a huge bell on it but he now will never wear it again...the birds will ahve to wise up to him im affraid :(
Leonie, i know someone will be very greatful she was such a lovely little thing, purred at me all the way home...bless, she must have been in some pain too..i am going to pop in to the vets today and see if they will let me see her :)

Awwwwh. Good on ya Westermans. I bet you have one very grateful moggy. Sure she will be ok now she's been rescued. Hope you can find her owners. Would imagine if she is a well loved cat they will be frantic by now. Keep us informed. I would've done the same if it had been me, and I'm sure most people would. You would have to be pretty heartless to just walk away and not help in that situation. None of our cats wear collars now for that exact reason; they are all micro-chipped instead. We always used elasticated collars but even so a couple of our cats over the years have managed to get tangled up in them, though luckily they have been spotted and sorted out quickly.

Being Yorkshire born and bred I recognised the word "gipping" as soon as I saw it. Such a lovely descriptive word I think; it conjures up such wonderful images!!! [xx(] :D

I have been to check on her and she is doing really well :) she will be operated on in the morning...she came up to the cage and smooched away at me...she was much more lively and they cleaned her up...no smell at all from her...so no gipping from mum this time...lol...
I have printed posters with her name and a few details and stapled them onto everything local and put it in the 2 local vets and pet shop, local shops, also got a free add in the local paper and the one that covers further a feild too :) everyone is so helpful when they see her little face...you just cant help but love the little thing...
I hope her owners do see one of my ads and call me...everytime i come home i wonder if there will be a message...not yet but i not giving up hope on her...

This is the little treasure, you can just see the sore on her upper left leg..its set back as she was stuck this way for so long....poor little girl

Poor wee thing. So glad you found her. She must've been in agony for days. I'm sure if no-one claims her she could have a home at your place eh?!
