A google search got me to the AVG forums. The following link specifically mentions AVG version 8 ( freeforum.avg.com/read.php?12,149708,149709#msg-149709 )
There is another answer (at answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20081027013019AA7HnRN ) but I would only try this if the first option does not work.
As an aside being in the IT industry you may find it interesting I don't actually run any virus software. This is what I do to remove MOST of the risk from Virii (Correct plural?) assuming you are using a Windows operating system (XP, Vista).
- Do not use the Internet Explorer web browser unless absolutely necessary. The rationale for this is that Microsoft make both your operating system and web browser and they have integrated them both. Using an alternative (I recommend Firefox )
- Do not use Outlook Express email software. The rationale is the same as the first point. (I recommend Thunderbird )
- Do not use an account on your PC that is an administrator then if something untoward is to happen you may not have rights for it to do any damage. (FYI, I made this change to CKs computer and she was not keen on it at first and possibly still does)
- If you can, connect to the internet behind a firewall. Your Broadband connection may already provide this or you can load them onto your PC. ZoneAlarm is an example of this software. There are lots of others.
