Gotta love the Big T
We were anticipating problems getting our phone line in, as when the sections were subdivided, it appears that while Telecom was paid to put lines to the gate from across the right of way, they only put conduit, not any wires in it [

Techie on site (Chorus) gives me a reference number to call them on first thing Monday morning. I do so, and am told that there was an 'investigation' ongoing and that the 'investigation team' had until Weds to come back with an outcome - first I heard of that :rolleyes:
Today Telecom rings hubby and advises that the earliest they could get a line in is 10 November! [:0]
Not happy with this, I have just phoned Chorus and have been told that the final say is with Telecom, but part of the delay is that they have to thrust under the road :confused: (its a RIGHT OF WAY) and this will involve stopping the traffic :confused::confused:. I did advise that the conduit was already there and all that was needed was the wire threaded through [}

So...I phone Telecom and get a staff member in training who doesn't know what to do with the reference number I give her, so on hold........................................................................................
When she gets back, I am told the 10 November story, to which I say that I want to speak to someone who made that decision. So she has emailed their 'specialist team' upstairs for one of them to call ME (not hubby). I have asked her to put on the message that I expect a phone call TODAY! [

Yep, another Tui billboard comes to mind [}

Now, I know that they only took about a week to get the neighbours line in, with the same problems we are now encountering, so am working on that. And they can darn well pay for diversion of landline calls to my cellphone for the duration.
Grrrrr!!
And this is all before we even get to the broadband issue [}

Right hand certainly didn’t know what the left hand was doing…as well as issue with no wiring in conduit (which Chorus (techies) knew about but Telecom didn’t), there is also the issue of not enough capacity at the road (which Telecom knew about but Chorus didn’t) good grief!
When I pushed the issue, the same woman who spoke to hubby earlier offered us a special mobile phone that they can divert all our homeline calls to in the meantime, and which we can use for making calls the same as a normal landline…she didn’t offer that to hubby!! [

We have broadband allocated to us already apparently, but obviously can’t use it until lines sorted.
In the meantime…my broadband here runs at 4mb/sec, mobile broadband on laptop sitting at my desk here runs at 1mb/sec, mobile broadband on laptop at block runs at 250kb/sec L its going to be a frustrating month!!!!
