Is it me or is the pattern wrong? I've started a jersey and have completed the first rib: 8cm of k2, p2 etc. on 82 (86: 90: 94: 98: 102) sts (I'm doing 94 sts size.)
Now the pattern says:
Next row: (Increase). Rib 2(4: 6: 8: 10: 12)
*inc in next st, rib 6(6: 6: 6: 6: 6) rep from *
to last 4 (6: 8: 10: 12: 14) sts inc in next st,
rib to end. 93 (97: 101: 105: 109: 113) sts.
So I rib 8, inc in next stitch which gives me 10 sts. Then I rib 6 and inc again in the 7th st, giving me 18 sts in total, yes?
If I carry on like that, I don't end up with 10 sts left in which I can inc in the next and have 105 on my needle.
Is the pattern mad, or is it me?

But, I was asked to create a Crafts forum, which I did, and no-one uses it. So.....should we just lose it?

I was going to post in there, but followed the other knitting request of a couple of days ago, for fear it would not be seen in there. No, the crafts forum is a very fine idea. The difficulty arises in not being able to select which fora come up in one's active topic refreshments.
Here's the rest of my calculation for the pattern, if anyone can follow it and see where I've gone astray (or not):
R8 inc in 9 = 10
R6 inc in 7 = 18,
26,
34,
42,
50,
58,
66,
74,
82,
90,
up to original st 79 with 11 extras = 90, have 15 left not 10 as per pattern and can't increase again without going over the 105 total.

I can't see how that works either - I agree with your calculation except I think that once you have the 90 stitches you need to do a final rib 6 so that you have 96 knitted and 9 stitches on the needle and, as you say, you can't increase again. I think that the smallest pattern works, though, for what that's worth.

Thanks pkb, I'll check that out. I wonder if the 66666 is a mistake and ought to be different numbers of ribbing between inc for different sizes.
It was driving me mad last night, since I'd finally picked up this old pattern with some new wool I had forgotten I'd bought a while ago and was really enjoying getting on with it. I'll do the calcs on the other sizes too and see if I can work out how to make it work - ultimately it isn't hugely important, since it's a virtually-invisible increase at this point, but it's annoying when it doesn't work out as the pattern says it should!

I wish I could help you like you helped me Isla, but I agree with pkb, it doesn't seem to work. It is so frustrating to get going on something and then come to a stand still. I hope someone else can work it out for you.

Hi - basically it seems to me that you need to increase 11 sts. in the first row after the rib. I would just evenly increase the first row by 11 stitches. That is 1 increase every 8 or 9 stitches . Would that work ??

just inc 11 sts evenly as possible across the row & the pattern will work out fine & youll never notice the odd inc

Thanks all, I have reworked it: Rib 7, inc in next, rib 7 until the last 7, inc in next and finish. Easy, but I was confused that the pattern wasn't doing what it should! Sometimes I think that and then work out that I misunderstood something somewhere. You would think the writers/designers would check their patterns more carefully.
