anyone live in Raglan?? or near??

On the weekend I was unfortunate to break a lovely wine glass that belonged to a friend of mine.. [:0]he was very nice but I could tell he was really anoyed... [!]apparently he bought them in Raglan - I've googled and can't find a particular shop that would sell this kind of glasswear but if someone lives there and I can describe them sufficiently perhaps I can buy him another one...

anyone?????? I need to get back in his good books!!!!!

MM might know but she's in the UK, give it a couple of weeks and she'll be back and maybe be able to help with the whereabouts of the shop.

Bugger eh! I go through wine glasses like you wouldn't believe....only ever buy the really cheap ones now cos i pretty much break at least 1 a week. I've looked for some nice plastic ones but have yet to find some

I do. There is no actual glassware shop as such in Raglan but there is a few places it could have come from. There are a couple of shops in the courtyard that sell a little bit of "finer" glassware, or if it was a bit chunkier it could have come from a Bow St shop. A few more details...

try the plastic box in Manukau Road, the wife bought some there a while back and we used them last new year, by the end of the night she was asleep on the deck in the rain.[:0] i just buggered off to bed,[}] so be warned they hold quite a bit,

Devan they are fantastic and look nice too, i also got some from briscos...i also smash glasses nad i have teen that like to smash at least 2 a week...any glass they are not bothered...they are not allowed my Gordens gin & Tonic glasses i borrowd from a pub in the UK before i left
Good luck in replacing the glass NancyF, but if you dont want special glasses broken then you shouldnt get them out...your friend has learnt a lesson there, i only ever buy cheap ones now..i have some special ones that i use but NEVER get them out as my daughter bought me 2 of them for no reason at just because she felt like it..she is a good girl

Znt live is raglan but she is also in the UK at present. Were they those lovely hand painted looking glasses? I did buy some Victorian sherry glasses from the second hand shop there a while ago.

the glasses had a solid frosted glass cone shaped base with a clear glass (white wine sized) bowl on top.. possibly hand made as they weren't all the same.. wish I'd taken a photo of the remaining ones...

They were quite distinctive with that solid base - haven't seen anything like it before...

If anyone sees anything similar they could always take a photo on their camera phone and then e-mail me for my mobile number and send through to me... .. any help on this is very very much appreciated....

You need JavaScript enabled to view it. had been discussing this wine glass on the way there and were very surprised to find what appeared to be match in the house they had rented for the weekend.... sent me a photo on the phone.. exact match!!!!!!!!... what luck!!!!

Simon offered to call the home owner and find where she bought them and then track them down for me...

more surprises.. [:0] the home owner actually imports them but didn't import the frosted glass ones anymore.. but not to worry . ..we could have the one in the house and she would just replace it!!!!!!!!!!

isn't that just wonderful.... !!!!! I'm blown away .. not only by the coincidences but also the willingness of people to help me out... and now not only has Simon sourced them but is now going to get his son to deliver back to Palmerston North for me to collect....... [8D][8D]

What a great story. Sometimes people can be so nice. Maybe you could post the name of the people in Raglan so they get some free advertising for their rental house? They certainly deserve it.
