Some time ago I lost the captions to the different folders, now when I click shortcut to my pictures instead of the folders showing pictures I get titles. Did windows do a change of format a while back? I want the titles of the folders back. And while tinkering to do it myself have lost the folders. Help please in simple terms. []
Just a shot in the dark.... try open up "My Pictures", top toolbar click "view" , click "thumbnails". This shows some of the contents of the folders

I'm no quite sure what you are asking but I had a quick look at mine and by going into "Views" it will open to how you want your folders displayed. By choosing "Tiles" it shows the pictures. Same as Spook advised except I am on Vista and that may the word difference. Does this help?
Oh thanks Spoook, thumbnail was the operative word, I hit that and got my squares back.....But the titles are still missing unless I hover with the cursor. Can I have album titles there permanently,they used to be but mysteriously disappeared. Tiles gave me folders with titles Didi, I've now got thumbnails minus the titles, oh well one out of two aint bad.
Ok, try this........
open .... My Pictures, View, Choose details. Here you will get a list of what you wan to see, make sure the "name" is ticked and also "show".

What program are you using? I use Windows Photo Gallery on Vista and am happy to research more if you are using the same but suspect not? Let me know - I love the challenge of Google for problem solving. Grin.
