Is it illegal in NZ for someone to ask for payment of labour portion of work before its been undertaken?

I haven't been asked this question, just curious.... in case.[xx(]:rolleyes:

Not illegal I don't think, but you'd be foolish to do it, as the stories on Fair Go every week show! [;)]

My feelings too, over here though we cannot ask for more than 10% prior to job commencement under our fair trading rules. (out of pocket expenses such as materials delivered to site another matter).

We had a "small" victory today Tigger!!!! :D
