Hi all. At my house i have suspect cell phone reception. On the deck it is fine, in the lounge (off the deck) it gets two bars if i hold it about head height, anything below that and is usually nothing, and in the rest of the house it seems to come and go.

Seeing as i can already just get it in some parts of the house, is there any gadget or gismo which can enhance the reception?

Do something.

Either lead, follow, or get out of the way.

Hubby is the gadget/gismo person in our house and also a cell site/mobile radio tech. He is out on a call out at present but I will ask him when he gets home.

We lived for two years in a cottage with no landline and the only place the phone could get reception was in a certain spot. Ditto for my MIL's vodaphone mobile in our current house, she only gets texts if it's sitting on the bench by the fruitbowl and can only send if she holds it in the air by the clothesline - very funny sight. We were advised to get a kyocera brand as it was better at picking up weak signals. It seemed to work at the cottage, we got more calls through with the kyocra than the nokia. Might be something to look into.

is your mobile one with a fully internal antenna? or one with a pull-out antenna? many of the extendable types can be fitted with aftermarket longer antennas, and it shouldn't be hard to run a long wire anntenna along the clothes line and have an electricial solder that to a modified screw in socket for one of those antennas.

It's far more fashionable to have sleek slim internal sets now, but they have lower reception than most of the old extendables tho.

22km for us to get cell phone reception :D

It was a pain when the landline went out and the neighbours weren't in, now we have a key! [8D]
