Hope you feel better soon Spoook. If you can't find a bell, a spoon in a glass?, a shepherds whistle? a couple of pot lids? they should get him hopping! ;)
Nows the chance to get all those videos and DVD's you've always wanted to watch but never had time before. Get comfortable and let your body recover! I'm so glad you're ok.

I personally think that's quite enough of the death stories.

Someone I know very well, very sensibly had a melanoma and a big chunk of body removed (well, there's not much option there, really) and more frequently than the regular six-monthly checks during the following years, the stories of doom and gloom came rolling in from all and sundry. "Oh I just went to the funeral of someone who had a melanoma removed five years ago ... went to his brain ..." ad nauseum.

Do the checks, but do them for your health. Telling each other scary stories about all the people you know who died because they didn't, or didn't soon enough, is just bloody upsetting and pointless. Not that I'd tell you what I think, or anything. [}:)]

But Isla, it's like childbirth stories or hysterectomy stories. Nothing wrong with sharing, and this thread is about spoook and making people aware that shyte can happen to any of us.
I should have a doozy of a childbirth story next week when my niece has her triplets.[^] Sorry spoook for the hijack.:)

Just seen this thread. I personally would like to have one done, having had two aunts with breast cancer and being over 30 without children (another high risk category). I am not 45 yet though

Moggy go along to your doctor. The age limit does not necessarily apply if there is a family history of cancer.

Ring any lab that does breast screening, I don't thing you need to add the costs of a doc appointment. I don't think you need a referal from your doctor. A simple call will lett you know.
Just DO IT :D

You can also have them done at private radiology clinics that offer that service - When I found my lump it was going to be a 10 day wait for an "urgent ' mammography at the Palm Nth clinic so I went privately and it was done a few hours later - aspirated etc. It was well worth the few hundred dollars .
How are you feeling now Spoook [?]

My daughter phoned lat night to tell me shes having some private treatment done next week on a lump "downstairs". Says shes had it for nearly a year (first I've heard of it) and its now the size of an egg..OMG why did the silly girl leave it so long? I'm a little worried about it but hoping its just a cyst!

Moggy, being so young an ultrasound maybe the best form of investigation for you... but check with your GP, esp since you MAY have the gene

BB sounds like something I had years ago, Batholins Gland, I had it removed, trouble gone!

Chooky, for some reason I am feeling really pissed off. So many things I can't do and I did nothing to cause it.
Maybe now is the time I actually let go and cry.
