Could that be a misspelt and missmapped Auckland?

i think i will get in touch with them to see if it can be changed, there was a case of an American off a flight coming to Auckland instead of Oakland

Oakland is a lot more attrative name than AUCKLAND which is a hideously ugly name for a city [xx(] who the heck was Auckland anyhow? Some poncy old geezer about whom nobody knows anything:confused: I've always thought Auckland should be known by the location's Maori name Akarana. Everyone would soon get used to it and it's much more dignified and attractive than Auckland.[8D]

Early Maori named it Tamaki.....
I remember reading once it was name by William Hobson after Lord Auckland who was the govener-general of India at the time...

Yes, I thought that too, but wasn't sure, well, Tamaki is a nice name too (notwithstanding "bishop" Brian, lol). Our largest city named for an ex-governer-general of India. Now that IS inappropriate and mind-numbingly boring. Time to change it.
