Funeral Readings, again was created by Toni - Northland
You guys helped me out last time, now I need a reading for a Grandfather. Grandkids Grandad on the other side died last night and daughter asked me if I could get a reading for her daughter to read at his funeral, along the same sort of lines as the other one you provided. Any help would be appreciated. :)

I did my own writing for Nan's funeral Toni.... we left the readings up to the celebrant.

When my MIL died, we took a passage out of the bible (she was very christian) that seemed appropriate to her life, and had that printed in the Herald in the obits section.

Oh no Toni, gee so many funerals for you lately. Here is 1 i found but will keep looking.

Granddad, you were just a lad,
So many years ago.
You had your loves and had your dreams,
You watched us come and go.

You watched us make the same mistakes,
That you had made before,
But that just made you hold us tight,
And love us all the more.

We haven’t always thought about
The things that you have seen.
To us you’ve just been ‘Granddad’,
No thought of who you’ve been.

But we remember now in love,
Your life from start to end,
And we’re just glad we knew you,
As ‘Granddad’, and as ‘friend’

When I come to the end of the road
And the sun has set for me
I want no rites in a gloom filled room
Why cry for a soul set free!

Miss me a little - but not too long
And not with your head bowed low
Remember the love we once shared
Miss me - But let me go!

For this journey we all must take
And each must go alone
It's all part of the master plan
A step on the road to home

When you are lonely and sick at heart
Go to the friends we know
And bury your sorrows in doing good deeds
Miss me - But let me go!

Thanks Smilie. So far I like the first one as it is more about Grandad. Keep them coming. I really appreciate your help on this. I will print both of them out as I like the other one as well hopefully someone else might like to read the other one as it is nice too.

Not sure how old the grandies are, but a lovely short candle service is wonderful. Had one for MIL's funeral a few years ago & the grandkids all lit a candle from a main candle, held it up in the air a little & recited something similar to below..everyone commented how great it was..

The first candle represents our grief.
The pain of losing you is intense
It reminds us of the depth of our love for you.

The second candle represents our courage.
To confront our sorrow,
To comfort each other,
To change our lives.

This third candle we light in your memory.
For the times we laughed,
The times we cried

The last candle is for the times we were angry with each other,
The silly things you did,
The caring and joy you gave us

*Someone then ends it off with*
We cherish the special place in our hearts
that will always be reserved for you.
We thank you for the gift
your living brought to each of us.
We love you.
We remember you.
