I'd completely forgotten, I file GST returns every two months and love the extra time I get at the end of the year. Except that I always forget to make a note of the date. I was just looking through the area of my desk laughingly described as 'the inbox' and found the return...[B)]

I khow what I'll be doing tonight :(

LOL. I had a mad scramble to do mine (also forgotten) a week ago and it wasn't until I got to the very end and had to enter the due date that I realised I had another week! Now just the annual return to do....

I only rediscovered my form this morning, but had fortunately clicked that it was the 7th it is due this month. Our GST hasn't been realigned with a changed end of year date, so this is really a month out, but it's still the one I which requires me to do the rest of the annual accounts to get it right. So, here too, it's today's and probably tomorrow's job. The whole business means some serious office/house tidying, as I strive to find the bits of paper and various invoices which have left gaps in the folder. Great fun. Yeah, right. :)

OMG, how smug am I feeling??? [}:)]
I have done 4 so far, 1 to go when I can get the guy organised.

I can't believe I have been so organised with all that is going on right now. I wonder how long that will last? [;)]

I panicked at the end of last month - then realised I had extra time this year. Not much use, as I then left it til the last minute anyway and am no getting two lots done today [:0]

But I thought it was due on the 6th, glad to hear its the 7th, as I have no idea where my forms have gone...[}:)]

As you can see, I am soooo organised!

The thought of a refund encourages me to get GST filed in good time, but I do drag the chain if I have to hand over dosh to them.

Next rainy day I'll get the end of year paperwork sorted for the accountant.

You have 5 lots of GST to sort Spook[:0] Rather you than me!!

Ha, this smug so and so not only did the 6 monthly NZ GST last week, but also did the Aussie business BAS statement (GST) 1/4ly return and tidied up the Aussie bank statements and wages statements for the Accountant to finish the 06/07 end of fin year books.... and our personal returns. (Aussie end of fin year is 30th June)

I love MYOB and I love plastic lidded containers that store our receipts in one place. :) [;)]

MYOB is a pain in the neck to use, it has some nice features like it calculates the figures for the return for you, but has some really not so nice features like deleting your company files and hiding your backups in hidden directories, I also find the user interface extremely unfriendly.
I just do 6 month returns as we currently don't have a huge number of transactions. It is the end of the year income tax return that I hate doing, takes ages.

Cripes Moggy, as you may know from my computer posts I am a complete simpleton when it comes to programmes and stuff, but it works really well for me and I have no trouble taking it past the reconciliation stage.

I haven't ever had it delete anything on me at all. I just go into my C drive and manually delete the older saved files that I have updated at a later date.

I am using V14, and I think I started with MYOB at about V. 8 or 9...

I have had it delete the company file four times in the space of a couple of hours, I now take a manual backup (not using MYOB) everytime I use the program now. It is running on vista which may make a difference. I like to think I know a fair bit about computers (10 years as a programmer), but this thing has me tearing my hair out.
I only use it for GST as I don't invoice anyone (well and I don't sell that much at all in general at the moment)

Tigger

I use BankLink too, it's brilliant!

I always feel very smug when I send it back to the accountant, feels like I've actually done something towards the accounts. :D

IRD insist we do our GST returns every two months though, no problem as we've had 5 refunds out of 6 returns this year. [8D]

Just sitting here doing the end of year accounts, wondering who's stolen a big pile of invoices though [:(!]

Which version Moggy were you using? I have always had to do manual backups, and do them mid input regularly as not to lose the info if the power drops off.

I do my invoices and wages manually, and I don't stocktake with the programme, nor link invoices to jobs. I only need it for basic accounting work.

Never mind.

So Ladies what is BankLink and how did you get it?
