Up until recent months, the SOH was walking around in duct taped boots. His reasoning was he could no longer find a comfortable pair so was "sticking" (no pun intended) with what he had....

Oh tell me about it, Oh gummies have fallen apart over the summer, he taped them up with black and red duct tape, and said he was making a fashion statement, however this last week has been wetter so he's bought himself a new pair from the red palce. I Ihope they last but were Ok as long as you hang onto the receipt.

Do you realise Duct tape can't be used for the use it was originally invented for? use it on air con ducts and the heat and temp and/or humidity causes the glue to fail and the cloth/plastic waeve backing to split/crack. Instead they now have aluminium tape.

Duct tape is like the Force. It has a Dark Side, a Light Side, and it holds the Universe together.

However if your roof is lined with the thermatough type of foil and you have airconditioning/heatpump units installed in the ceiling, ensure that the contractors (and electricians) use duct tape to stick the foil back together please.

It frustrates my SOH no end when people's roofs start leaking and it drops into the roof cavity because someone has gone and stuck multiple holes through the foil and then failed to tape them back up.

(foil isn't meant to be used to prevent roof leaks but helps direct any leak back towards the eave area and away from the expensive painted gib board surfaces.)

When I was a poor student, duct tape held everything together from furniture to footwear to strapping up a twisted ankle during a hiking trip. Marvellous stuff.
