Whichever way the ANZ tells this story, that is 500 (according to them, extra) jobs that could be done here.
So who's changing banks? [

Perhaps we could take 500 people off welfare and make them work instead?tigger;161012 wrote: Whichever way the ANZ tells this story, that is 500 (according to them, extra) jobs that could be done here.

During some research I was doing today, I discovered that 37% of "Aucklanders" were born overseas. And the population of Auckland is.... I should add that the research I am doing is to do with the ARC wanting a one shop for all in the Auckland region (from Te Hana in the North to Pukekohe in the South) but basically to meet their requirement for investment in Regional transport and infrastructure to meet the huge growth.

anz's primary responsibilty is to its shareholders not its workforce.
personally i don't think anyone's owed a job because of an accident of birth.

What the hells wrong with all you wingers. Put your money where you mouth is and buy shares in theses companies and enjoy the shareholder benefits. If you think these companies are making too much money then buy their shares.Lost Triceratops;161117 wrote: And thats the trouble with the world today (well... one of them!) Unless you are in a majorly sought after job grouping (ie not banking staff or similar) bsadler, I'm guessing that the work you did for India was done in India and they didn't outsource your input while you were living in NZ? In other words, they spent their money on someone living in their 'community' who then returned a good chunk of that back into their community whilst living there?

It's taken you this long? [rob;161021 wrote: makes you think to change to kiwi bank

You're not from around here, are you? The sense of let-down on such an issue is based in the culture of this country which has been so rapidly changing over the last two decades. We are a small population and we all owe our community and our community looks after us. That includes the businesses we support. Hence the disgust at them all being own outside of our wider Kiwi community and no longer upholding their side of the deal.bsadler;161108 wrote: i worked in india for 2 1/2 years. they didn't have any problem employing me, i don't have any problem employing them.

How come only the shareholders opinions matter? What about the stakeholders who keep the banks running through their business?

So, in answer to your question, I’d say: “yes, I’m from around here”.
My suggestion is to find someone else to patronise.
