Funeral Readings Please was created by Toni - Northland
Does anyone have any little poems or readings that a 7yr old and a 9yr old could read at their grandmas funeral on Monday. I have a Steiner Rice book, but they are a bit much for that age group.

Sorry, Toni, I don't have.

You could try a Google search using 'children' and see what you get. I'm sure once you start looking you will find some really nice possibilities.

I'm sorry that the kids have lost Grandma.

Don't know if this is what your after but found these/

"What makes a Grandma special?
Why is she so dear?
When we think about our Grandma
The reasons are quite clear
Our Grandma loved us dearly
We felt it every time
We came to visit Grandma
It made her bright eyes shine
We could tell it made her happy
When we'd spend our time with her
She'd laugh and play and hug us
These sweet memories will endure!
Grandma really spoiled us
She knew just what we liked ..."

Grandmother.

We had a wonderful grandmother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandmother,
And that' s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She's still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let's make sure
She will like what she sees.

~~~~ Silent Tear.
Each night we shed a silent tear,
As we speak to you in prayer.
To let you know we love you,
And just how much we care.
Take our million teardrops,
Wrap them up in love,
Then ask the wind to carry them,
To you in heaven above.
Grandmother
We had a wonderful grandmother,
One who never really grew old;
Her smile was made of sunshine,
And her heart was solid gold;
Her eyes were as bright as shining stars,
And in her cheeks fair roses you see.
We had a wonderful grandmother,
And that' s the way it will always be.
But take heed, because
She's still keeping an eye on all of us,
So let's make sure
She will like what she sees.
Lots of kids write something themselves. At such young ages they would need help but its a good opportunity to talk about the person and all she has meant to the family. I know several families where the kids have written (or had their words written for them) and either put them in the coffin or tied them to balloons which they have let go at the cemetery.
The girls are going to do the first one. They are going to read a line each and do the last line together. Thanks for that, that one is really really appropiate.
Just to let you know Smilie that the girls read that poem today and 3 yr old grandaughter stood up there with them. The two older girls read a line each and said the last two lines together. I heard grown men crying behind me. They did a superb job and that poem was just so apt. Thank you so much for that.
So glad to hear that Toni. Would have been lovely to have them read it out like that.
You have had your share of funerals lately haven't you?
