Hi ya! Mini-Dweller for his homework in PY (Physical Ed) needs to identify the ilios psaos(sp?).

He has a printed sheet with a picture of the human body's muscles.

1) What is it?
2) Where is it?

A google search didn't really come up with anything of any use!

Muchos Gracias! :D

Years of medical typing make me quite sure it is soft tissue/muscle in the knee/thigh area to do with stabilising the knee. Has something to do with patello/femoral syndrome (knee stability). I think it also involves amuscle that runs from the hip area down the front/side of the leg to the knee.

Give his physio clinic a ring - they will soon tell you exactly where it is.

Boo-gar, I had just sent you a detailed version to stump the teachers with his brilliance, but got disconnected at the vital moment and lost it all
... sorry TKP you are nearly right but wrong.

it starts from the level of the lowest rib from the spinal process going down the posterior wall of the retroperitoneum to just south of the hip in the pelvis. its the necessary muscle that lifts ya leg when you sit down and cross ya legs
its about the thickness of ones wrist [well mine anyway] and can be upset with renal stones working their way down the ureter, or during pregnancy due to pressure.
psoas abscess can be a killer and is a serious problem, I cant remember which famous person died of it a short while ago..
whic can present as appx symptoms or back ache and fever.
I had it during my first preg, psoas strain, and it was impossible to lift ones leg forward so I wanted to walk backwards.. hope that helps and yes there is one both sides so if he does an A shaped line on the trunk he should be right

Ask me, ask me........

"Ilios-psoas muscle arises from the five lumber vertebrae and from the inner rim of the pelvis"

There are no bad questions only those that are not asked.
