Farm rental property was created by Baldo9
Hi there,
I'm currently based in Auckland but seriously looking at moving out to the countryside. One of the options i've thought of is to maybe look for a rental that has land where I can grow my own food and raise some chooks/pigs too.... "live off the land" as they say. I've already looked at some websites like trademe, realestate etc.. but no luck.
I dont have the money to buy a parcel of land so renting is my only option.
Are there any farm owners out there that rent out a small piece of their farm (.5-1 hectare)?

Thanks,
Larry

What area are you looking at?

Try some of the community forums on FB and the like. Having said that, I think you might find its more word of mouth and personal recommendation these days, rural rentals can attract ''undesirable activities and people''.

try the Wwoof site, there are lots of LSBers on there, some may have more land than they can cope with. I think you have to be a member to post, but maybe we can help with that if we know more details about your ideas?

5 acres, Ferguson 35X and implements, Hanmay pto shredder, BMW Z3, Countax ride on mower, chooks, Dorper and Wiltshire sheep. Bosky wood burning central heating stove and radiators. Retro caravan. Growing our own food and preserving it. Small vineyard, crap wine. :)

I understand your problem quite well. We've decided to spent some time on the property of family members rather than the city and have a kunekune with us now. So if we had to move on it would be fairly hard to find any rental to put a pig on :pinch: we'd love our own land - but who can afford that, really.

I wish you the best of luck finding something fitting and will be following the responses attentively :)
