New to sheep was created by Jeffhartle
My husband and I are new to sheeping.
Our sheep were sheared a couple weeks ago and found out they were pregnant.
One has given birth to twin boys and the other was swelled on Sunday thought she was going to pop and now she looks pregnant but not huge and eating regular. Is this normal?

5 acres, Ferguson 35X and implements, Hanmay pto shredder, BMW Z3, Countax ride on mower, chooks, Dorper and Wiltshire sheep. Bosky wood burning central heating stove and radiators. Retro caravan. Growing our own food and preserving it. Small vineyard, crap wine.

sheep are quite able to look after themselves so don't worry. As long as they have feed and water, they will be ok. It's a bit out of season, do you know what breed they are?

Welcome Jeffhartle. I suspect that you might be in the Northern hemisphere
. If we know approximately where you are, we are able to make better suggestions

I have no experience with Shetland Sheep (only Shetland ponies) and i'm not even sure if they are in New Zealand, but, there is a good article about them on this site. Shetland Sheep

Probably what you are seeing is before lambing, the lamb drops into the birthing position. The ewe who looked fat when you looked at her front on was wide and both sides but before lambing, she changes shape as the lambs are reading to come out. She will look much skinnier front on.
