Hi, I'm new to this website, in the Wanganui region. We would like to add an additional water tank, 35000L, but quote for Tank, piping, pad etc is close to 8 grand. the will be extra down pipes etc plus, over flow to our pond, etc. Does this sound excessive ? has any one down something similar?
thanks in advance

Replied by sandgrubber on topic additional water tank and costs
If you're not in a hurry, watch Trademe. I've seen near New 32000 l tanks at $2500 or less in my area.

Trade Me has 25k tanks delivered for under $3k. To install is easy, just a flat bit of ground with maybe some sand or crusher dust to level base. Make sure you provide a means of tying tank down as soon as it is delivered. Pipework is easy DIY, just ask on here if not sure how to do it.

5 acres, Ferguson 35X and implements, Hanmay pto shredder, BMW Z3, Countax ride on mower, chooks, Dorper and Wiltshire sheep. Bosky wood burning central heating stove and radiators. Retro caravan. Growing our own food and preserving it. Small vineyard, crap wine. :)

We are building on a lifestyle block in Wanganui and the cost for 2x 25000l concrete tanks was about $6k just for the tanks. So maybe a little excessive?
I would get alternative quotes. We didn't end up needing the larger tanks and ended up with smaller plastic ones which were still a few grand all up.

When we got our extra 25000 litre tank we were told that the dimensions that it is, is because any different would not fit under many of the bridges and structures on the roads. In Wanganui, that might be a factor that makes 35000 less economical than two 25000 litres. Have you talked to Farmlands?
