Hi all, finally found the orchard we have been looking for; growing Avo's, Hayward and Sungold on the outskirts of Katikati.
The orchards have been pretty neglected for the last 10 years due to the previous owner trying to grow organic without putting in the cash to make it work.
Got a 1001 issues to deal with and attacking them one step at a time, hopefully with a bit help through knowledge and experience from the members here.
cheers
Helen and Ivan

Welcome. This sounds exciting!
Are you going to continue to grow organically or conventionally? Have you experience in this sort of thing or are you completely new?
Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your challenges

some experience in viticulture, new to Avocados and Kiwifruit so a new learning curve
. the health of plants will require some serious conventional love and care.
Hope to return to a sustainable approach in a couple of years. lots of wildflowers, healthy soil and environment. need to find a solution to six spotted mite

Welcome
I'm envious of your avocados.... we've had no luck at all with ours. Wishing you all the best with your new venture

Thanks Runamuck just read your post describing trials and tribulations. talk about frustrating. We've read just about every piece of literature available on planting. so little on NZ. the best we could find was NZ Avocado BPG. Now we just have to wait a mere 18 months for order of plants to put into practice. Some of the current trees are too far gone...
