I want to be a farmer! was created by Ciara
Hello Lifestyle Farmers,
Just a little note to introduce myself and hopefully make some contacts or perhaps get pointed in the right direction.
I'm an Irish lady traveling New Zealand with a passion to work in a farming environment...any farming environment!
I'm no stranger to hard work and get such satisfaction completing a day consisting of manual labour in the beautiful surrounds of nature...rain or shine!
I'm currently in Raglan...really taken by the place and ideally would love to stay on here or in the Waikato area. I've been traveling for almost 3 years now and I'm keen to unpack my bag, settle into a farming job and enjoy an early to bed and early to rise routine.
I have previously worked for 8 months on flower farm, my duties included...
- Picking and exceeding to targets
- Cool room management and stock rotation
- Farm and field maintenance
- Packing for deliveries
- Planting
(I apologise that this post has turned into a bit of a CV!)
I'm incredibly keen to learn and have a positive attitude and approach to any task I undertake.
So grateful for any assistance anyone may be able to provide me with.
Thanks for taking the time to read,
Warmest regards,
Ciara

Hello Ciara!
Do you want to work with animals, or are you primarily a plant sort of person?

There is also www.fhinz.co.nz (farm helpers in NZ,) about 250 farms, or as above www.wwoof.co.nz about 600 places, but not all farms! I am sure if you ask around any dairy farms out that way, you may be able to get a job with calves, or milking starting very soon, if not already, look up Mike Moss, he is organic and would be able to help you with suggestions.

forgot to ask - do you have a work visa? If not it could be difficult for you?....
