Hello All, was created by mapnz
Just a little about my partner and I. We have been developing a fully self contained mobile dairy premises so that I can milk our little herd that ranges from 4 - 24 cows depending on calving dates. We were leasing a retired dairy farm last year but this year we are sharing our neighbors lifestyle block. The plan is for me to milk the cows and Roli to take the milk up to town on his way to work and sell it there.

This our first year milking cows and it all started when we were trying to find some high quality raw A2 milk for our youngest daughter who seems to be allergic to store bought milk. We didn't like the sound of palm kernel expeller, spaying paddocks and many other dairy farm activities either so we thought we would get a A2 house cow and it has gone from there...

Next week we are on our way to Feildays with our Mobile Mini Milker and it will be on display in the innovation center because we were lucky enough to have been selected as finalists in the grassroots category.

After that we will at last start selling our milk to the very patient people who have been waiting over a year for us to get everything organised so that we are allowed to sell our beautiful milk.

If anyone is interested in doing a similar thing, please get in contact as we have learned a lot in the last 12 months! our email is: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Hello and welcome!

You may have issues with selling the milk as it may only legally be sold from the farm gate... I know of people who took the risk and lasted a short while before being shut down and fined etc.

It depends on how it is marketed. If it is sold as animal food, you are fine.

I read recently in healthy food guide magazine, that you can sell 5 litres per customer at the farm gate - just a observation, not sure how accurate their information is.

Confirmed horse addict.

I read that the OP has done what is required to be allowed to sell the milk. Try reading the second last line again!

Good on you for your entry at the Field days Mapnz.

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S
