Hi I'm Matt I've been on here for a while now but never introduced myself.
We bought our 7.5 acre block a couple of yrs ago and are loving it having moved from the city. This forum has been great for us reading all the advice, stories and opinions.
My interests are anything to do with pigs my dad had them when he was young and he must have passed it on! I've set up a small scale stud breeding Large Blacks and now moving into saddlebacks and Berkshires to try and help preserve these magnificent rare breeds. I can tell you it certainly isn't for the money!!
Hi Matt, welcome and where in West Auckland are you?
Its so nice to hear people talking so warmly about pigs, I am pretty sure they are a much maligned animal many of which live in really poor conditions
Hi Muri, we are in Helensville yes they are intelligent social animals and I agree some of the conditions they are kept in in different parts of the world are shocking. Unfortunately a lot of that pork ends up in NZ.
