Hi From Inverness, Fl.

Hello everyone!!!!! My name is Mare, I've been working on being a homesteader for 7 years now. I love the simply life. Been married to hubby for 40 years. We have 3 children grown now with family of their own. Our son Andy is 37, Chris is 38, and Stephanie is 39. We have 12 grandkids and 2 great-grandkids. Ages from 2 to 22. We get together at least once a month for family night. And then it's crazy around here. We have a garden, 1 cow to bred , 1 calf for beef when it's old enough, 6 hens for eggs and hatching new batches for meat also, 1 rooster to help with that. LOL , 1 dog, 1 cat. I bake our bread from wheat I grind, make as much as I can from scratch. I do canning, and dehydrate some. We have 5 acres that makes it possible for us. My newest thing in life now is to get a milking cow to make butter,cheese,yogurt, from raw milk. I love learning to do all this. Well this is me and my Funny Farm.

ha ha I find it amusing when placenames get adopted and their origin and meaning forgotten. Is Inverness in Florida on the river Ness there too? (It means mouth of the river Ness which is why I ask.)
Your climate will be a bit different to the original - not quite as suited to highland cattle. What breeds do you have of cattle and chooks?

Welcome, welcome new member in Florida! You 'are' busy. One of my sons would like us to do the house cow thing, but I'm not brave enough. Let us know if you get there.
