I won't pretend to understand the counter balance adjustments question. But, we have one of these windmills but not the original water pump. The water pump we do have struggles a bit. How does one contact someone from their trademe profile.

The Trade Me profile I gave included the means of contacting a person whom I know could be helpful with your queries.

I too have a Booth Self-Oiler, and know what you're talking about. If you have the original counterweight it really is a matter of trial and error with its adjustment.Denneaux;507718 wrote: I won't pretend to understand the counter balance adjustments question. Hi guys I know this is an old thread, but do any of you have photos of you windmills up and running? I am currently restoring a Boothmac self oiler and I'd like photos of how the linkages to the tail etc are connected, I have only got a gearbox and fan hub to start with so any help would be appreciated.
Cheers
Caleb

5 acres, Ferguson 35X and implements, Hanmay pto shredder, BMW Z3, Countax ride on mower, chooks, Dorper and Wiltshire sheep. Bosky wood burning central heating stove and radiators. Retro caravan. Growing our own food and preserving it. Small vineyard, crap wine.

I have a tail somewhere you can have. It has the cast bracket attached.
There is a guy here in Blenheim that collects old windmills, if you get stuck you could talk to him.

I have it up and pumping now, runs silent. Doing a great job keeping the tank full.

It looks great as well - very steam-punk
I wonder if more old-school technology will come back. Here is a classic example of something that does the job without being expensive or technically tricky......
