Hi, It's taken me ages to find a site like this and hopefully I'm in the right place.
My hubby Ron and I are in our early and mid 50's and we live in our 12m motorhome. Whilst this makes up our worldly possessions, it doesn't stop us dreaming of one day living next to the ocean, somewhere in the BOP.
We love the minimalistic motorhome lifestyle but have not yet been able to afford to actually travel very much, (due to having to fix some shortcuts on the vehicle that the previous owner did to achieve a sale) we would dearly love a place to call our base. Currently we travel to find work then park up for a couple of years and do some repairs.
A place with a view of the ocean. A half paddock somewhere on the east coast would be a dream come true for us.
We're hoping eventually to find someone who'd be happy to lease us a small piece of their land for the next 20 yrs or so, where we can become self sufficent with our own garden, maybe a few laying chooks.....all that sort of thing.
We'd be respectful of the environment and not look like an eyesore but instead make it look like a welcome retreat, so the landowner wouldn't be embarrassed to have us there.
(Sometimes I think some people have a negative view of motorhomes, cos some do look pretty bad.)
Anyway, I am so looking forward to going through the articles on here re self sufficiency and sharing some of the stuff we've learnt along the way also with regard to being "off the grid".
AND if anyone, anywhere has a little piece of grass next to the ocean they'd be willing to share with us, longterm by way of a lease if you prefer or just a montly rental, then we'd love to hear from you. If fishing is plentiful in your area, better still.
Wendy

Good exercise for the heart is to bend down and help someone up. Anon.

Welcome to the site, Wendy. Hope you find your perfect place, but I reckon your current lifestyle sounds pretty good, actually.
Are you able to grow your own veges at the moment, in containers perhaps?
Cheers, Mich.

Hi Wendy, I too think your lifestyle sounds great already, something Mr D and I talked about doing many many years ago. EQs, Insurance, volunteer interests and employment changed that for us. So we are now on the LSB. I hope you find what your looking for. We used to live by the sea, the only thing Mr D misses.
