Roosters was created by Craig10
Hi,
Handy site! Have recently move to a rural property and decided to do the family thing and get 5 hens for egg purposes. Unfortunately it turns out that three of the chicks are Roosters!
They are now 5 months old and are starting to worry the hens and dominate feeding time. I need to do something with them before long so am asking if anyone would like them. I don't want anything for them but would ask that they be collected or I could deliver if local. I am in Dairy Flat North Shore.

Many thanks

Craig

Craig if you keep them for a few more months they should be big enough to eat that is unless you don't fancy it. In the mean time, if you can separate them it will give your girls some peace, lessen the chance of the girls getting hurt and ensure all get better fed.. Roosters are quite hard to find homes for unless they are pure bred and a breed people want.
You could also try TM but you will get most replies from people who want to eat them.

Welcome to the LSB

Did you know, that what you thought I said, was not what I meant :S

Why not eat them yourself? As Stikkibeek says feed them up a bit, there is plenty of advice elsewhere on here for that, then whack their heads off and cook as you would a supermarket chicken.
