haha nope not a biscuit: a macron is a diacritic. It is shown as a horizontal line over a vowel in Maori (there should be one over that "a"). It indicates a longer vowel sound.

I have always found it amusing that one Government Department that does not follow the convention of the macron is Inland Revenue, where they use the double vowel: Te Tari Taake. Perhaps they don't want it to be read as "Take"[;)] :D

Oh ....a bit like the french language then:confused: ,,,they have whatsits over some of their vowels ....denotes male and/or female ....or sumfink ...been a few years since I was at school:rolleyes:[;)] so it is a bit blurrred ...off to make some macaroons now:p:p
