Hello-

We are moving to NZ in June and truly hope to be blessed with the opportunity to live in a lifestyle property but need to rent for a while before we buy. We want to raise a small herd of alpacas, have a veg garden and maybe small orchard plus some chickens. Its not too easy to find a great property like that to lease so if you have one that you would like to lease please contact me!

Hi and welcome to the forum. :)

Where are you coming from? Tx = Texas?

Is "truly hope to be blessed" a manner of speaking, or an indicator of the sort of people you'll be most comfortable associating with? If the latter, I'm right off your list! :D:D[}:)]

Welcome! I'm sure you'll enjoy having alpacas here. I wonder if you will end up on the South Island??

Living on a 7 acre property near Oamaru I currently have 5 wonderful Standardbred horses, 8 alpacas, 6 former battery hens, 1 labrador and 8 cats. I eat only plant based food and love trying new plant based recipes. Retired from the paid workforce in December 2019 and have never been busier!!

Hi Tx-NZ. We moved here from the UK 4 years ago and also bought into the LSB with alpaca life. You'll get plenty of advice on here if you ask for it. Do you have any part of NZ in mind?

Hope you find what you're looking for, good luck.

Renting is a good idea to start with as you can get the feel of different areas of NZ. it always surprises me how quickly the scenery changes in NZ as you drive about and each area is different on its merits.

Don't get too caught up in the blurbs for properties that say ''water views'' as some aussie friends did some years back without viewing the property first, a lot of NZ has ''water views'' its not always thought of as special rather the norm in some locations.

Remember to bring references with email addresses for contact too. Insurance policy changes mean some property managers are having to lift their game as far as reference checking potential tenants go.
