Thought I'd join here as I've just engaged a solicitor to hopefully get a 4ha piece of Northland purchased, that we will develop over the next 5 years or so and then move on to.
Is it just me or is this rural property purchasing lark just plain terrifying? Or is it just a grand adventure?
Hi zanemvula, once you get past the purchasing lark you'll be fine, then its all Martinis on the deck,....opps no its not,its all hard work from then on.

Welcome. I would very strongly advise against owning animals if you are not actually resident on the property. I graze LSBs, and now only graze properties that the owner can tell me if my animals are not well, or have got out. It is far too difficult to visit the property every day to check that the animals will be all right.
Thanks folks, not moving there yet as I have made commitments not to mess with my children's social lives. Yes really. And also commuting from another hour away would be even more hell than commuting currently is...
I'm not intending to own animals until we get there, although I am kinda hoping someone nearby might be interested in using the land as grazing so it doesn't turn into an overgrown mess.
