My name is Megan, I am married with 2 kids and we live on a small lifestyle block. We just got our first lot of chickens 2 weeks ago (8 hy-lines now 24ish weeks old) which has prompted me to join, I now feel like i have 10 children not 2 :)

Hi MeggyMeg - welcome to LSB. There are lots of chicken fanciers on the forum, with loads of knowledge that they're willing to share if you have any questions.

Have you been on your block for long?
Cheers, Mich.

hey Mich we have been here for nearly 2.5 years. Heaps of vegie gardens which is where we spend most of our time, tomato house, strawberry house and now we have ventured into the chickens. Would like to get some lambs at some stage but well see how the chickens go first

Akzle, we are in upper hutt, wellington

Looking forward to using this website and forum, have already posted about our chickens. Very exciting.

You're just "up the road" from us in a manner of speaking, Meggymeg. :D

Your chickens will produce lovely fertiliser for your gardens (which sound amazing, by the way). I'm really into vege gardening, too. I can't boast a strawberry house though. :p . Am trying to grow enough veges to keep us going all through the year - a bit of a big ask, but I'm doing my best with successional planting so we'll see how my resolve lasts in the depths of a crappy winter [;)].

Good luck with the chooks - I'm sure they'll have a lovely life.
Cheers, Mich.
