My wife and I are 4 years into our low impact rural living experiment.

We moved to our 2 hectare lifestyle block North of Cheviot after spending 2 winters choking on Christchurch smog.... Things are much better here.

Our mission is to create a diverse, bio intensive, organic polycultral system that uses and demonstrates low energy, sustainable permculture principals.

Surrounded by conventional 'spray and plow' farmers we are looking for like minds to share inspiration and moral support.

While this is currently something of a 'hobby' (I build websites to pay the bills) I can see an increasing need for people to become more self (and community) reliant and resilient as we face the oncoming challenges of dwindling fossil fuels and climate change.

Currently we have extensive gardens, orchard, chickens, ducks and pigs, goldfish and a cat, all working together....

No smog anymore, the earthquakes destroyed the majority of the old dirty wood burning fires

There was no change in the smog levels here in Bryndwr, There are still plenty of flues poking out of our neighbours houses.

Good to see you are planing a sustainable future, it's the only way to go in a finite world, good look with it.

Just me and the cat now, on 2 acres of fruit and veg + hazel nuts, macadamia, chestnuts and walnuts,
