I have been directed to this forum by several members who have suggested this is THE place to come if I am having problems with my farm animals, as there are many people who may be able to help.

Thanks!!! Well a little about me. I live in the Far North and I look after my parents errrr farm?! It's 27 acres and we got 7 calves to go on it this year. I have my own cow, Panda, who had her first calf this year, a little bull named Uno.

And then there is Isaac the goat and Flossy the lamb, Ice and Milo the dogs, Shadow, Titten, G1, G2, Possum, Wabbit and Whitey the cats.

PLUS I do quarantining for our local SPCA and so I have 5 mama cats, all with kittens and 3 litters I am hand raising.

I call myself goatkrazy because I find myself head overheels in love with Issac and since I very nearly lost him on Thursday to goat polio, he is tucked even closer to my heart. Sappy I know!!!!

[][xx(]Don't name the bull calves. It makes them too hard to let go and unless you can afford to have a lot of really big pets (steered!), sometime they have to go.

The Far North needs more cats. Do they all get de-sexed?

We've had goats for nearly 20 years now, and they drive me insane, so I guess I am goat crazy too. We have Boers, and they are a lot of work for very little reward, hence my dislike of them .

I have long-lived cows with names. Not all, but some. That's a bit different from naming the animal you know has to die in a couple of years.

I wouldn't ordinarily have named a bull calf but from a distance we thought it was a teeny tiny heifer hence the name. Now my dad has decided he is lovely and wants me to keep him as a bull so he can impregnate dad's heifers. I see alot of improvements done to boundary fences on the horizon!!!!

As for Panda, she will live her natural life with me as she was handraised by me and I made her a promise. I will keep any heifers by her but the boys will make it to the works...eventually!!!

And all the cats/kittens are SPCA so every single one of them is de-sexed, vaccinated and then re-homed.

Oh and Isaac is a tottenburg and a total pet, along with Flossy the lamb.

Finding a stud for Flossy should be fun!!!!
