Hi everyone. We are new farmers on a small farm (large lifestyle block) in South Auckland. We've got sheep and lambs, dairy grazers, some odd goats - all girls ... hmmmh - anyone with a spare young angora buck? - and some rehomed chooks. We're looking for more chooks too. Our two ex-suburban Auckland Black Orpington cockerels would like more than one old hen for company. Saw an advert for free-range end of lay hens, $5 each. Is there better around?
My other half is a little crazy - he made silage by hand the other day. Anyone else tried this? And he has collected over 2000 snails and slugs from the garden. The chooks have learnt to like them.

Hi Hongdi - Welcome to forum - there's a rescue place up here at Matakana that often has rescued chooks for adoption. Lovely trip up here on a saturday for the markets etc and pick up some birds while you're at it.
